I really like the sound of this spin on a survival game. Personally instead of pvp I'd like for player to team up to survive together if you do add a multi player element.
Animation is very ambitious and as you said time consuming so id recommend focusing on the animations later and spend your time on building up the game.
Id recommend focusing on render quality over animations. While animations are a nice bonus your players will spend the majority of their time looking at the regular renders so they should be at as good a quality as you reasonably can make them.

Sorry but the phrase "love to hate" means that the character is someone you hate but enjoy them regardless. Elliott is just hated because she's a completely unlikable piece of shit. If something bad were to happen to her people would actually enjoy that. I don't think anyone actually likes her and any interest in her seems to be in seeing how miserable she'll end up at the end of the story.

Hmm the art does look like thet could be what's happening in the shower. Perhaps the dialog is different depending on whether you were rude or not. I tend to only be "rude" to people who are jerks first like the bear patron and the restroom wolf.

I'd say with the strange phone message telling him to be careful and the drugging of the drink points heavily towards him being the one who did it. Last time I played that part of the game I remember that we are forced to go with him but it's possible that was changed in the newer versions of the game. I admit that I've never invited him in the house so I have no idea how that plays out.
So you know that he spiked Viv's drink with a drug that causes arousal and he tries to take advantage of that before Viv goes to the bathroom. I really see no way to redeem him after the attempted date rape. He may have a sad backstory but he is still a massive creep. I wish there was a way that we could of went to the wrestling match without him or at least cut all future interactions with him.

I'm trying to play the demo but the dialog color and box are too hard to read. I'd recommend having a white background with black lettering to make it readable or something similar.
